Bereavement & loss
Grief & Loss
Grief is not only the loss of someone we love. It is also the loss of a relationship, a way of life, a dream, an identity, or a version of the future we had imagined. Grief is deeply personal, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it — no timeline you must follow, no emotion you should or shouldn’t feel.
At Jade Counselling, we offer you a quiet, unhurried space to sit with your grief and allow it to be witnessed. We do not try to fix your loss or rush you past it. Instead, we walk alongside you — through the waves, the silence, and the gradual, gentle process of finding meaning and moving forward.
Your grief is a testament to how deeply you have loved. Let us honour that together.

Question and Answer
I haven't lost someone to death — can I still come for grief counselling?
Yes. Grief is a natural response to any significant loss — the end of a relationship, a miscarriage, losing a job, a friendship, your health, or even a future you had imagined. Loss does not have to involve death to be real and deserving of support. If you are grieving, you are welcome here.
It has been a long time since my loss, but I'm still struggling. Is that normal?
Grief has no set timeline, and there is no point at which you should simply "be over it." For many people, grief resurfaces at unexpected moments — anniversaries, milestones, or simply a quiet afternoon. If you are still hurting, your grief is still valid, and support is still available to you.
I feel guilty about some of the emotions I'm experiencing. Will you judge me for them?
Not at all. Grief can bring up a wide range of emotions — including anger, relief, guilt, numbness, or even moments of joy — and all of them are valid. There is no right way to grieve. The counselling space is one where every feeling can be brought without fear of judgement.
Can counselling actually help with grief, or does time just have to pass?
While time plays a role, counselling can meaningfully support the grieving process — helping you make sense of your experience, process emotions that feel stuck, and find a way to carry your loss while continuing to live fully. Grief counselling is not about moving on; it is about learning to move forward, in your own way and time.
